In this article I am
going to set up Claude code on the cmd line in Ubuntu 24.04.
Set up account
Head over to https://platform.claude.com/
And sign up for an
account
Enter your email, and
click Continue with email.
You will have an email
sent to you.
Open it up
You should see this now.
I am going to go with Organization. I have some ideas for that and I have a feeling I might get some more tools.
Fill it out and click
Create Account.
Click on Settings
Click Workspaces and
click + Add Workspace
I am going to name it after my user (myself) and click Create.
Open API keys.
Click +Create Key
Select your workspace
Give it a name and click
add
Copy the key and save it
somewhere for now and click close
If I go back to
workspaces I can see I have 1 key assigned to my patrick workspace
Open the workspace
Click on limits
Here you can see the rate limits that you can tweak on this workspace but this is not the place to set the price limit.
I believe I can’t see a
cost limit yet because I have not yet funded this account.
Setting up Billing
Click on Settings à
Billing à Click on Buy Credits
Set the Amount I am
going to go for $100 for now but you can start much lower.
Fill out your payment info and click Buy!
Done, I am just going to
close this.
If I go to Settings à
Billing
I can see the credits and the default setting is auto reload is disabled.
Good! I want to play it very safe when
running this for personal use.
Click on limits and
scroll down.
Here you can see the
organization is set to a monthly limit of $500
over all workspaces.
I am going to change that to $50 for now.
Click on Change limit.
Change it to $50 and
click Set Limit.
Now all your workspaces
combined can only hit $50/mo
Set Workspace Limit
Click on Settings à
Workspaces then click on your workspace
Click on Limits.
Here you can see the Monthly limit is the same as the Account limit.
Click on Change Limit
Change it to $20 and
click Set Limit
Now its set 😊
And that is how we can set a “person’s” limit by using a
workspace with the intention that only one person will use it.
