Adding Second Raid 5 Drive from iDrac 8

Posted on Sunday, September 27, 2026

I have a dell R730xd server with an iDrac8 with a PERC H730P mini Raid Controller with 2GB of
cache.

I have a raid 5 already with 4 disk running.  I have 3 more disks I want to turn into a second raid 5 drive that can then be mounted in the Ubuntu 26.04 running on the first raid.  I want to see how this is done from the iDrac8 web page.

Uploading ISO over 2GB to iDrac8

Posted on Saturday, September 26, 2026

I have a dell R730xd server with an iDrac8 with a 16GB vFlash.

Its relatively easy to upload an iso to it from the iDrac HTML5 web interface… As long as its under 2GB in size.

There is a way to upload an ISO that is over 2GB, but you have to jump through some hoops.

Uploading ISO under 2GB to iDrac8

I have a Dell R730xd server with an iDrac8 and a 16GB vFlash.   Here is how you can upload an iso that is under 2GB to it to use for installing an OS on the drive

Why do I say under 2GB?  Well if you are going to use the iDrac html5 web interface you are limited to a max of 2GB for upload.  There are other ways to upload a bigger ISO but that is for another article.

Grok Sharing Skills from Claude

Posted on Monday, July 13, 2026

I believe Grok Build will snag local Skills from Claude Code located in ~/.claude/skills automatically.  I want to test this out to make sure it’s a real thing.

Getting Grok Build connected to Slack MCP

Now that I have Grok Build Installed https://www.whiteboardcoder.com/2026/07/install-grok-build-on-ubuntu-2404.html [1]

Let’s see if I can get it talking to Slack via the Slack MCP https://mcp.slack.com/mcp .  For some details on Slack MCP see https://docs.slack.dev/ai/slack-mcp-server/  [2]

Install Grok Build on Ubuntu 24.04

Posted on Thursday, July 9, 2026

It’s time to try out Grok Build, Groks answer to Claude Code.  I currently am paying for Super Grok.  I believe this gives me access to Grok Build as part of my plan, though it may throttle me from time to time.  I could pay per token… but for now I do not think I need that.

When you run /memory in Claude Code, it will open a menu that shows you every memory file currently loaded in this session.

Claude /powerup

Posted on Friday, July 3, 2026

/powerup is a built-in interactive tutorial in Claude Code.  It is fairly new, it was introduced in version 2.1.90 April 2026.

What does it do?  Let’s run it and see!

Claude /goal

In Claude code there is a special command called /goal. What does it do?  It enables autonomous, multi-turn work.

What does that mean?  Let’s explore….

Claude Agents

Posted on Thursday, June 18, 2026

In Claude code you can agents.  Now what is an agent?   You can think of it as a smart assistant.  You can create an agent, give it a goal, then have it go at it working independently then return the results.

In this article I am going to keep it very basic and simple and focus on just creating your first agent.

Claude Code /statusline

The Claude Code status line is kinda boring.  Not much there.  Turns out there is a built in way to create a more interesting status line.

Claude MCP Prompt

I am starting to poke at MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers.  And how they work and how can you connect to them in Claude.

As a first step I want to look at one aspect of an MCP servers Prompts.

Claude Permissions Allow, Deny

Posted on Thursday, May 14, 2026

Claude AI is powerful and it needs to be contained in many cases.  The default mode for Claude code is to ask permissions before it asks.

But if that is all it does that presents two problems.  One you have to click enter/yet again and again and again.  And two if you do that eventually you are going to click a yes when you don’t mean to.
